Wow. What a ride it’s been! Our last few months in the States were an exhausting whirlwind of house repair, visiting people, saying goodbyes, speaking in churches, and changing 50 year-old addresses and phones numbers so when we return to Palawan, our life (and the IRS… ha!) could still find us!
On the plane, I found myself thinking about… “leaving.” Seems we all want to “get somewhere.” Whether that’s to get somewhere in life, or simply a physical destination, we’re always on the move. Our culture is particularly obsessed with contantly going from one place, activity (or relationship, sadly) to the next.
But, to “get” somewhere, we have to leave something behind. That might sound obvious, but as I was pondering that thought, it seemed profound! For us to serve God open again in the Philippines, it meant we had to leave family, friends, church, life, routine and familiar comforts behind. To “get” somewhere in our walk with God, we all have to leave things behind. So see? It is profound!
So, what does God want you to leave behind? More importantly… where does He want you to “go”?
